Arata Isosaki’s Shinjuku White House at A83 in New York
The building’s importance is rooted in its dynamic architectural history and cultural significance – it established itself as a hub for the Neo-Dada movement, serving as a meeting and exhibition space for avant-garde artists during the late 1950s and early 1960s in Tokyo, Japan. In 2023 invited architects from Japan and the USA transformed the space to continue its legacy.
Our challenge was to translate the scanned site data of the architectural transformation into an engaging experience for gallery visitors. The task was to make this data accessible and captivating to a broad audience, while keeping true to the theme of the exhibition as well as maintaining its overarching narrative.
Employing data visualization technology, we transformed the LIDAR scans into immersive audiovisual installations, allowing the visitors to engage with the building’s past and its reinterpretation in a gallery setting.
