Old Street Metro Station Competition

design communication    |    public competition For the Old Street Metro Station architectural competition proposal, we created a CGI animation that highlights the design's role as a central hub within London’s urban fabric. The animation opens with a dynamic birds-eye view of the site, where neon light trails converge on the station, inspired by long exposure photography of night traffic. These light streams symbolize the flow of public transportation and urban movement, emphasizing the station’s connectivity.

The animation incorporates detailed motion graphics that outline the transportation context, site features, and construction methods. Cinematic sequences integrate the bustling pedestrian and vehicular traffic, providing a lively backdrop to the proposed design. Key elements include stepped platforms for public use, adorned with trees and complemented by a roof garden.

A prominent feature is the expansive pedestrian area near the station entrance, featuring large planters with greenery that double as public seating, alongside a fountain and café. The design fosters a vibrant and welcoming environment, reinforcing the station’s importance as a social and transit hub in the city.
